Chaohua Yan, M.D., opened her practice, the Neurology Center of Salem, in 2011.

Education and Training

Dr. Yan received her medical degree from Shanxi Medical University in China; a Ph.D in Neuro-Pharmacology from the Chinese Academy of Medical Science; and a Master of Science of Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Her clinical training in Neurology was completed at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, and her residency in Internal Medicine was completed at the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University in China.

During her career, Dr. Yan has also obtained considerable research experience at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, where she was an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatric Neurology; at the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Neurology as a research associate; and at Shanxi Medical University's Department of Pharmacology, where she was a researcher and member of the teaching faculty. She also had over 40 research papers published during her career.

Areas of Practice/Interest

As a neurologist, Dr. Yan provides advanced diagnostic services and treatment for diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles; including conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, movement disorders, cerebral vascular disorders, migraines and headaches, neurodegenerative diseases, neuromuscular disorders, seizure disorders, etc.
